A fond farewell, honouring a well earned retirement: Andy Moore

After more than four decades supporting parks across the UK, Regional Account Manager Andy Moore will retire on the 31st of March 2026.

Where It All Started

Andy first became involved with Compass in 1985 through Jardine Glanville, the broker then managing the Compass scheme. He was recruited to help transition manual processes to computer systems, drawing on change management experience from his previous role. A move to Southampton in 1989 saw him step into finance.

Encouraged to go back to college in his 30s, Andy completed a business qualification. When he returned, he was offered two career paths, and he chose sales, officially becoming a Regional Account Manager in January 1995.

A Career Built on People

What kept Andy at Compass throughout his long career was the connection he built with people – customers and colleagues alike. Throughout the late 1990s and into the years that followed, he supported parks through severe weather events, floods and complex claims, often stepping in to assist other regions when help was needed. These challenging moments strengthened bonds with park operators, creating the trust, respect and long standing relationships that became the hallmark of his work.

Andy often recalls the camaraderie that came with those difficult days, including time spent out on park with colleagues such as the late John Long, Regional Account Manager, where teamwork and a sense of humour helped them navigate even the toughest situations. Experiences like these shaped Andy’s approach and reinforced his belief in working side by side with customers, not just for them. He recalls pulling on waders, stepping into flood water and asking his colleague John to walk ahead of him “just in case.” “If John fell over, I knew something was there,” he jokes.

He also reflects fondly on the colleagues who shaped Compass along the way. Among them was the late Karen Stacey, Compass Managing Director, whose leadership, warmth and energy helped build the culture Andy valued so highly. Her influence, alongside the commitment of the wider team, created an environment that felt like family, one that supported each other through periods of change and helped Compass continue moving forward.

Across it all, it was the people around him, customers, teammates and friends, who defined his time at Compass and made the journey so meaningful, a feeling made even more poignant by the loss of both John Long and Karen Stacey in 2025, whose contributions and presence continue to be deeply missed.

Andy’s Philosophy for Success

Andy’s approach has always been straightforward and people first:

“Do your best, explore different angles, and keep going, even when the answer isn’t obvious.”

He explains:
• Be a partner – listen, challenge constructively, and do what’s right.
• Lead with integrity, respect and understanding.
• Put the needs of the people we serve at the heart of every decision we make

Andy has made some great friendships along the way.

Looking Ahead to Retirement

Retirement for Andy means time outdoors and away from screens: golf, fishing and travel, from UK road trips to further afield. It’s a return to the simple freedoms he’s long valued.

A Final Word

Across four decades, Andy’s contribution has been measured in trusted relationships, steady guidance and the kind of support that matters most on difficult days. He leaves with the gratitude of colleagues and customers alike, and with many friendships that will last well beyond his final working day.
