Compass endorses Flood Technology Group’s ground-breaking products

Flood Adaptive Platform hailed ‘most exciting development of last decade or two’

Flood Technology Group is proud to announce that Compass Insurance, which provides specialist insurance cover for holiday homes, lodges and caravans, has pledged to support its customers.

The endorsement from the leading specialist holiday park insurer means that Compass Insurance will be happy to consider providing full flood insurance cover to customers who fit Flood Technology Group’s ground-breaking Flood Adaptive Platforms to their caravan, lodge or holiday home. This exciting development is further evidence of the Flood Adaptive Platform’s enormous potential to help holiday home, lodge and caravan owners to future-proof their homes and businesses against the growing flood risk that we face in the UK as a result of climate change.

Karen Stacey, Managing Director of Compass Insurance, said: “Compass Insurance is proud to pledge support for Flood Technology Group customers.

“We feel this has been the most exciting development for the last decade or two in terms of flood protection and are therefore happy to consider full flood cover for caravans, lodges and park homes where a Flood Adaptive Platform has been manufactured, installed and is maintained by Flood Technology Group.”

Simon Gilliland, Chief Executive of Flood Technology Group, which was formed less than a year ago and only recently announced its intention to bring its Flood Adaptive Platform for mobile homes, lodges and caravans to market, said: “Here at the Flood Technology Group we’re well aware of the Flood Adaptive Platform’s unique ability to protect caravans, lodges and park homes – even those in flood prone areas – from the growing threat of climate change.

“Historically, the owners of lodges and caravans on sites that have flooded previously have struggled to get insurance cover, so this is wonderful news as it means that both holiday caravan and park home owners will be able to future-proof their homes and businesses.

“It also opens up the vast potential to develop holiday parks in popular tourist areas with a high level of flood risk, such as sites close to rivers or along the coast. This is a real game-changer for holiday home owners and means that Compass Insurance is leading the way in the insurance sector by spotting and understanding the true potential of our flood adaptive technology.”

Twelve years in the making, the multi-purpose Flood Adaptive Platform is a groundbreaking mechanical jack system that’s designed to detect and react to flood conditions by automatically elevating above the rising water. It has already been successfully applied to both mobile homes and modular buildings but can be used to protect a vast range of infrastructure across many different sectors, from utilities and energy to commercial and transportation.

Both new build and retrofit tested versions of the Flood Adaptive Platform are available to suit all types of mobile homes, caravans and holiday lodges. There are approximately 365,000 caravan holiday homes and an additional 100,000 residential park homes in the UK, with around 73,000 holiday caravans and 10,000 park homes at moderate or significant risk of flooding. In the region of 20,000 caravan pitches in the UK are not even being used due to flood risk, according to data from the National Caravan Council.
